alt="" width="450" height="180" /> EnStream – a
mobile-commerce joint venture owned by Bell Canada, Rogers
Communications and TELUS, has just launched in Canada. The service
was announced back in
href="http://cellarama.com/articles/bell-mobility-customers-will-soon-be-able-to-transfer-money-internationally-with-their-mobile-phones-1576/"
target="_blank">September and it’s now finally ready
to be used by all Canadian people.
EnStream
created the Zoompass Mobile Wallet to provide Canadians with an
easy to use and convenient way to transact using digital currency,
payment cards and other credentials accessible through a mobile
device. The Zoompass Wallet application already provides Canadians
with a way to send, receive and request digital currency
domestically. As of today, Zoompass users can send money around the
world, using the Western Union Money Transfer service within the
application. “Enabling consumers to send a money transfer from a
mobile device, at any time, and from anywhere, is an exciting new
way for Canadians to remit funds back home,” said Brian Fox, Senior
Vice President and General Manager for Western Union in Canada.
“The Western Union Money Transfer service represents a fast,
convenient and reliable connection with family and friends.
Anything that we can do to make that connection stronger is an
example of the tremendous value the Western Union brand offers to
consumers.”
Once a Western Union Money Transfer
transaction has been done through Zoompass, the receiver of the
funds can pick them up at any Western Union location, in over 200
countries. Subscribers of Bell Mobility can also have funds from
Western Union being transfered directly to their Mobile Wallet
accounts. The Zoompass service is currently available on networks
in 27 countries, including Smart Communications and Globe Telecom
in the Philippines, M-Pesa in Kenya and Safaricom in the UK. You
can sign-up on the
target="_blank">Zoompass site right now.

Whether
they are just trying to be generous for holidays, or just get rid
of some of their devices that haven’t been selling too well, I
don’t know – but it looks like Bell is dropping the prices of Palm
Pre and Motorola Dext down to $149.95, contract-free. The Bell
Mobility Motorola Dext runs on the oldest version of Android around
- 1.5 – and you don’t expect any other updates for it. It runs
Motorola’s blur skin on top. It has a slide-out QWERTY keyboard,
5MP camera, and Wi-Fi, bluetooth, and GPS connectivity. It comes
with a 2GB microSD card, but can hold up to 32GB for additional
memory. The Bell Mobility Palm Pre is a CDMA device that comes with
the beautiful WebOS and it features a 3.1″ (320×480) touch screen
display, slide out QWERTY keyboard, a 3MP camera, Wi-Fi,
bluetooth, and GPS. It also comes with 8GB of internal memory, and
has a 3.5 mm headset jack. If you’re interested in other Android
phones, you can get Samsung Vibrant, HTC Desire Z for $75 less
until December 31st, and you can also get LG Optimus for free – all
with a 3 year contract.
