Just recently released is the long awaited Samsung Galaxy Note in a fabulous Ceramic White shade. Black is obviously out this season as the white LTE enabled Note is sweeping through Canada and people are loving it! In expectation of high demand, Bell Mobility has began carrying this Super Smartphone and is letting it go for the standard price os $199.95 with a three year contract. For those who wish to purchase it outright, it can be done for $729.99. However, at that price, the three year contract certainly sounds more appealing!
For those of you who are behind, the Note is a Smartphone that has taken the best features from a phone and a tablet and meshed them together for the super phone that is now available. Though not totally new, it was only released in black to begin with. With its new sparkling white, clean look, the Note is has become more appealing to a wider customer base and the demand is soaring. It runs off the Android Gingerbread operating system (Though in May it will be upgraded to the 4.0 OS) and comes with the exclusive Samsung S Pen. The Snapdragon duel core processor is 1.5 GHz which is fairly standard of the newer model Smartphones. If you love taking pictures, the cameras performance is top notch and comes with the ever popular front facing feature. You can view your pictures and videos on the 5.3 inch display screen that has a 1280 X 800 resolution. There are no worries about carrying it around as it weighs only 178 grams and is 9.7 millimeters thick. Though many of you may not want to hide its stunning white color in a case!

Bell strikes first with new LTE Network in Canada’s largest market

On Wednesday (September 14th 2011), Bell Mobility announced the official launch of their LTE network in Canada’s largest market. This move beats Rogers, who had stated they would launch their next generation network in the Toronto area the week of September 19th. If you are a Bell customer and you live in Toronto, Mississauga, Hamilton, Kitchener-Waterloo, or Guelph are now covered by Bell Mobility’s LTE network.

LTE stands for Long Term Evolution, and is the latest in cellular network technologies and promises data download speeds upto 75Mbps (mega bits per second). At these high data speeds it is possible to realistically get data speeds as high or higher than home Internet connections. Allowing for data intensive applications like live-video-streaming to run smoothly to your mobile device.

Currently there are few devices available to take advantage of Bell’s new LTE network, currently Bell has one LTE device, the 4G LTE Siearra Wireless U313 Turbo Stick. Bell has announced that another LTE device also a Turbo Stick will be launching next week. Although there have been no Smartphones that have announced we expect the LTE Samsung Galaxy S II will be available shortly.

Bell HTC Desire Z Video Walkthrough. Coming to Bell on November 3

After they’ve just got the Galaxy S Android phone, Bell Mobility is about to get another high-end Android smartphone – the HTC Desire Z. Bell Mobility will actually be the only carrier in Canada to offer this phone because they have exclusivity on it.

The Bell Mobility Desire Z will be launched on November 3, but so far only the pricing for the unlocked option has been revealed – $499. They haven’t said how much it will cost subsidized, but the pricing shouldn’t be much different from the Bell Mobility Galaxy S pricing, which currently costs $150 on a 3 year contract.

HTC Desire Z to Launch in November Exclusively for Bell (Rumor Mill)

If this rumor is to be believed, Desire Z, one of HTC’s upcoming international Android phones, is launching exclusively for Bell Mobility in late November this year.

There’s no word on pricing yet, but this is a big win for Bell, because I believe the Desire Z will sell very well, if only for the fact that it has one of the best smartphone physical keyboards on the market right now. Not to mention that it comes with Android 2.2 Froyo straight out of the gate. Fans of both Android and physical keyboards, are going to be extremely happy with this phone.

The Bell Mobility Desire Z has a new generation CPU at 800 Mhz, which has shown in benchmarks and real usage that it’s still faster than the old generation CPU. The new CPU is also manufactured at 45 nm, while the old one was manufactured at 65 nm. This means it brings considerable improvement in battery efficiency.

The phone also comes with a new generation GPU (graphics processing unit), Adreno 205, which has about 4x the performance of its old Adreno 200 GPU. While this is great news, I feel that Qualcomm, the company that makes both Snapdragon CPU and the Adreno GPU, are falling behind in GPU technology. The GPU in Galay S is already better, and it came earlier. In just a few months we should also see Nvidia’s Tegra 2 chip in smartphones, which comes with Geforce 9 graphics.

In 2011, the king of specs will not be the CPU anymore, but the GPU. The avalanche of 3D games that will come to Android, higher 720p display resolutions, and hardware acceleration for both the UI of Android and its browser, among other things like Flash acceleration, will mean that the GPU will become a very important spec in the phone.

Bell Admits Glitch in Text Plan Billing

An error in Bell’s charging system for texts has led to overcharging every customer who had an unlimited plan. The system started charging customers with unlimited plans with 75 cents per message, in the interval between September 21st and 25th.

The system has been fixed by now and the bills of the customers who were overcharged have been modified to reflect the real spending of the customers.

“Of course we do encourage customers to take a look at their statements to make sure that … if there is anything that causes a question or concern they give us a call,” Queen said.

“But they should not see any incorrect charges on their bills as a result of this issue.”

Bell doesn’t know exactly how many customers have been affected by this, but they do know that this issue affected customers from across the country.

The normal charge rate for a text message is 15 cents, but the roaming fee for text messages is 75 cents. The text messages for the unlimited plans were free, but the system must’ve mixed the tariffs for the free text messages from unlimited plans with the ones for roaming.

When Nancy Miliea, a customer, noticed the problem, she called Bell to tell them about it:

“[Bell Mobility] just told me there was a glitch, there was something wrong with their computer system that everyone who had unlimited texting plan was getting billed per text and there was nothing they could do about it for a couple days,” Miliea said.

When Nancy asked the Bell customer service what she should do until the error is fixed, she was told that she shouldn’t use her phone much.

“I’m really upset with our service right now,” Miliea said.

Bell Mobility has said that the error should not occur anymore and they’ve worked to erase all the mistakes in the sytem that have led to overcharging customers. They are advising all Bell customers to report anything unusual as soon as they notice it.
