So would i just walk into a bell Canada Cellular store and they coul put this phone on my exsisting blackberry contract?
May 5th, 2010 at 8:17 pm
@ Greg
Thanks for the question.
Because the BlackBerry Tour 9630 for Bell Mobility is contract-free you can easily add it to your existing Bell account. You could also use it to activate a new account with Bell too.
You can also activate your phone from home and avoid Bell’s programming fees. The instructions can be found here… http://cellarama.com/activate
I hope this helps.

Hello,
I’d like to buy the BlackBerry Tour to activate it with Bell Mobility.
Bell has told me that it is absolutely necessary to add the $30 data plan for a BlackBerry.
Can you tell me if the BlackBerry Tour can be used without paying for internet access?
May 11th, 2010 at 12:04 pm
Hi GQ,
All BlackBerry’s can be used as regular phones and will function without a data plan.
However, because all BlackBerry’s (Tour included) are data devices they function optimally when they have the data features added.
Cellular signal strength, call quality, dropped calls will all improve with the data plan included. But all BlackBerry’s can operate without data as regular cell phones.
Hope this helps,

Hi!
I would like to purchase this blackberry. I already have an account with Bell for my HTC Touch that i hate very much. Can you tell me if Bell will update my account to fit with this Blackberry?
Thanks !
May 14th, 2010 at 10:24 pm
@Denis
Thanks for the question.
Our BlackBerry Tour 9630′s are contract-free phones. The advantage of buying a contract-free phone is that you can use it to replace the current cell phone on your Bell Mobility account, or you can use it on a brand new Bell account, you can even activate contract-free phones on prepaid accounts too.
So yes, Bell can update your account to use this BlackBerry.
Thanks again,

Hey Cellarama! I was just wondering if this phone would be functional on a Bell contract without a sim card? Or is a sim car required for this model phone?
May 20th, 2010 at 9:36 am
Will I need to buy a SIM card for this phone?
May 20th, 2010 at 11:15 am
@John
Thanks for the question.
The Tour operates using Bell’s 1xEVDO CDMA (800/1900) technology so when using it with Bell no sim card is required.
The Bell BlackBerry Tour 9630 also is a Quad-Band GSM functionality (850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900MHz GSM/GPRS/EDGE networks) so with a Rogers or Fido sim you can use this phone with Rogers and Fido (or anywhere else in the world that uses the stated GSM bands).
The Bell Tour also has HSPA 2100 as well which will give you highspeed data access when oversees with supported networks.
The Tour is really versatile, giving you the ability to use it with hundreds of different carriers in hundreds of countries world wide. Perfect if you are on Tour or simply travelling.
I hope my response helped.
Thanks,

@Ryan
Thanks for the question!
No sim is required for use with Bell. The sim functionality is only required when used the Bell BlackBerry Tour 9630 on GSM and HSPA networks.

@Julia
Thanks for the great question.
No these units are not refurbished. Our Bell Tours are units that were used for a short time before upgrading to other devices. They are all in great condition.
Also, all of our phones come with our free double warranty, giving you 97 days of coverage.

I want to use this phone on Wind Mobile’s network. Is the phone unlocked and compatible with the AWS/1700 Mhz/BandIV network?

@Denis
Thanks for the comment.
We have been moving through our inventory of Tours very quickly. Good news, we have added our new stock of Bell BlackBerry Tour’s 9630 to the site.

@Alex
Great question.
We have recently received a lot of questions regarding Wind Mobile and if our GSM-enabled Bell Mobility cell phones would work them them.
Here’s your answer… Our Bell Tours can operate as either CDMA devices (meaning they will work on Bell’s EVDO network) or GSM (GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 – meaning they can also work on the Rogers Wireless and Fido networks) or HSDPA (2100 – meaning it will operate on high-speed compatible networks over seas).
Since wind uses AWS 1700 – the Bell Tour will not work on the Wind Network in Canada.
I hope I answered your question.

Hi, wondering if you will be getting anymore of the BB tour in anytime soon.

@Sarah
Great question.
We’ve had a hard time keeping them in stock because of our great pricing. We will be receiving addition Bell BlackBerry Tour 9630′s soon. My advice is to signup to receive our BlackBerry Alerts and we will email you as soon as they arrive.

Hi,
I have 2 questions.
1) When you say that the phone is contract free are you saying that if I were to travel outside Canada I would be able to buy and insert a sim card from that country and it would work.,
2) I am with Bell but only have a voice and text plan. Is there programming that has to be done to the phone so as to not incurr roaming data charges.
Thanks

Hi,
I just want to ask if BB Tour is unlocked already so I can use it in Fido or Rogers right away… OR is it still locked with Bell and I still have to get it unlocked before Im able to use it with another carrier… Thanks
DVV
August 26th, 2010 at 10:01 am
Hi DVV,
Thanks for the question! Our Bell BlackBerry Tour 9630 are sold “locked to Bell”. We can unlock them for use with Rogers, Fido, and other GSM carriers worldwide (not Telus because Telus uses HSDPA) by request. If you would like to have it unlocked please send our customer service an email after your purchase. We charge $10 for unlocking all BlackBerry’s.
I hope I answered your question.
Thanks,

@Ron
Hi Ron, I apologize for the delay in reply to your question.
Here are the answers to your questions.
1.) When we call the Bell BlackBerry Tour 9630 contract-free we are referring to the fact that there are no contract obligations attached to the phones. The key benefit to buying a contract-free Bell phone is that you can easily activate it on your existing Bell Mobility account, or use it to start a new Bell account (you could also use it on PrePaid).
Regarding the use of your Bell Tour when you are travelling outside of Canada, yes you can insert a SIM card from a GSM provider in another country and it will work (providing that you have your Tour unlocked – a service that we can happily do for you after purchase for $10).
2.) The best way to ensure you don’t get roaming data charges on all BlackBerry’s is to change the data settings. Here’s the instructions: Press the “BlackBerry Button” then “Options”, “Mobile Network”, then set Data Services to “Off When Roaming”.
I hope this helps.
Thanks,

Would I be charged for Data Plan once I activate this phone after purchase or do I just get the phone and transfer all my information and continue using it as if it were my old phone?
September 9th, 2010 at 11:02 am
@Damian
Great question! Once you receive your new Bell Tour 9630 you will transfer all of your information (contacts, ect…) and activate it. We have a great guide showing you how to activate and programming your Tour for free at http://www.cellarama.com/activate/
If you have an existing Bell BlackBerry with a data plan, once you’ve completed the activation process you’re existing Data Plan will have been transfered to your new BlackBerry. If you don’t have a data plan, you can add one (if you choose to) during the activation process.
I hope this helped.
Thanks,
Cellarama Service

Hi,
I would like buy a phone that I can use both in and outside of Canada. When I am in Canada I would use my Bell account but when I am out of Canada I would connect to a carrier’s network that has CDMA2000 1X system. Will this Tour work on their network? What should I do in order to have this phone work on oversea CDMA200 1X network?
Thank you,
Rex
September 27th, 2010 at 11:23 am
@Rex
Thanks for the interesting question! The Bell Mobility Tour 9630 is a CDMA/1X device, which also has GSM capabilities for use with GSM carriers worldwide. To answer your question, if you take your Tour (or any other traditional Bell CDMA/1X phone) your phone will automatically work providing that Bell has a relationship with the overseas carrier you are roaming with. When you return home from your trip the foreign carrier will forward all charges to Bell and you’ll see them on your Bell bill.
To make sure that Bell has a CDMA/1X roaming relationship with an overseas carrier in a specific country give Bell’s customer service a call and they will clarify that for you.
Just be careful not to make too many calls, overseas roaming can be expensive (even for local calls).
My tip: Get your Bell Tour 9630 unlocked, a service we can provide for you, and then purchase a SIM from a local provider in your visiting country. This will make all of your calls local, and cheaper.
Hope this helped!

Thank you for your prompt response. So it sounds like I can conclude CDMA part cannot be unlocked from the network that the phone has been originally tied to. I’ll contact Bell what they can do.
Thanks again for your answer.

Hello,
I have a 3 year contract with Telus and was wondering if this phone will work on the Telus network?
Thank you,
N
October 8th, 2010 at 3:56 am
@Nini
Thanks for the question!
No the Bell Mobility BlackBerry Tour 9630 cannot be used on Telus. When unlocked you can use it with Rogers or Fido (or worldwide on other GSM networks) but because the Bell Tour 9630 is not an HSPA device you cannot activate it with Telus.
Other BlackBerry’s we have that will work with Telus are the Bell Mobility BlackBerry Bold 9000 and 9700.
Here are the links to those pages below:
Bell Mobility BlackBerry Bold 9000
Bell Mobility BlackBerry Bold 9700
Thanks again for the great question. Happy phone hunting!

when will the blackberry tour 9630 be in stock again? The screen of my phone broke so I can’t wait to long.

October 19th, 2010 at 10:49 pm
What about the 8530? Will it work on the telus network?
October 27th, 2010 at 8:12 am
@Nini
Thanks for the question.
The Bell Mobility BlackBerry 8530 will only work with Bell as it is CDMA only. Currently the Bell Mobility BlackBerry’s that can be unlocked for use with Telus are: BlackBerry Bold 9000, BlackBerry Bold 9700 (any HSPA / GSM BlackBerry can be unlocked for use on Bell, Rogers, Telus, and Fido).
Hope I answered your question.

Hi len,
Thanks for the question, sorry for the late reply…
We do have a couple of Bell Mobility BlackBerry 9360′s in-stock but they are not updated on our website. We should have the site updated within the next week. If you would like to purchase one of the Bell Tour’s that we have in-stock send an email to our customer service email address and as them to send you a payment link for the 9630.
