Hi:
I’m interested in the Blackberry Bold. But I notice that you no longer have information posted on your web site on how to activate a phone online. Is this no longer possible? Do I have to take it into a Bell store? Also, You mention that the Blackberry Bold works on Bell, Rogers and Telus. Is the phone unlocked? an I take it into a Rogers store and activate it there?

Thanks for the great question. You can definitely activate your BlackBerry Bold 9700 for Bell online using the Bell.ca website. If you already have an active Bell SIM card then the activation is really simple… You simply insert your Bell SIM card (that’s it).
If you do not currently have a Bell SIM then you will have to purchase one first. Once you have a new Bell SIM then you can activate both the SIM and Bold online at Bell.ca.
Currently we do not have Bell Mobility SIM cards for sale but you can purchase them from a Bell store, the Bell website, and even FutureShop stores.
We are currently creating a new video on how to activate your Bell Bold, it should be ready within a week. It will be posted to this link: http://www.cellarama.com/activate
Our BlackBerry Bold 9700′s were received from Bell and they have not been unlocked. This means that you can use it with Bell, but to use it with Rogers and Telus it will need to be unlocked.
We do have an unlocking service for HSDPA BlackBerry’s like the Bold and Tours. If you’d like us to unlock your Bell Bold 9700 we can do it for you before we ship it for only $10.

The BlackBerry Bold 9700 for Bell Mobility is not unlocked but we can unlock it for you at you request. Without having the BlackBerry unlocked you will only be able to use it with Bell. Once unlocked, you can use it with Rogers, Telus, and other GSM cellular carriers around the world.
If you would like to have your BlackBerry unlocked we can unlock it for you for only $10! Just let us know.

I had the bold 9700 for 2 weeks and dropped in the toilet. It’s completely dead and now I have a 3 year contract I cannot use.

The total purchase price for your Bell BlackBerry Bold 9700 will be determined by where in Canada you live. In Ontario you’ll add 13% for the HST taxes + $11 shipping. In Quebec add 5% GST plus $11 shipping. If you are in Alberta or BC add 5% GST plus $13 shipping. If you are anywhere else in Canada then you’ll add 5% for GST and $15 for shipping.

Thanks for the question.
To answer your question – no it is not compatible with Wind.
The Bell Mobility BlackBerry Bold 9700 (this includes Rogers, Telus, Fido models too) is not compatible for use on the Wind Network. With Telus, Fido, Rogers, and Bell Mobility, an unlocked BlackBerry 9700 can be used on any other stated network in Canada. You simply enter an activated SIM card and it will work.
Regarding our specs the 1700/2100 details were relating to AWS, not HSPA (needed for Wind). We have updated our details to simplify the compatibility concerns. I hope this helps.
